I tend to get many messages on my Instagram from men looking to buy KUIU for their wives and women who are interested in ordering some for themselves. I always keep up with these messages, but figured it may be helpful to add a blog post to answer some of the common questions I receive more in depth, especially with the holiday sales coming. If you follow my Instagram (@Hannah.finley) you will know I am a huge fan of KUIU Ultralight Hunting (http://www.kuiu.com/) and that their gear tends to be my go to while hunting and fishing here in Arizona. KUIU's products hold up well to the tough AZ terrain and they have gear that will keep you comfortable in the warmest and coolest times of the year. I would recommend it without a doubt.
KUIU has amazing sales and has them often. They are even having an "After Thanksgiving Sale" at the moment with some products up to 40% off. It is good to hit the sales and get the good deals while you can. On their website you can start an account so you will receive emails to keep up with deals, new gear, and events. Watching out for sales is a great way to save some money while still getting high quality gear.
When it comes to pants my favorite tends to be the Attack Pant (http://www.kuiu.com/hunting-pants-shorts/attack-pant/40001.html?dwvar_40001_color=Verde2.0&cgid=pants-and-shorts#start=4). With how hot it can get here in Arizona they are perfect to wear in the warm temperatures, but can also be worn with other layers in winter. During August Archery season the hip vents are a game changer and really make a difference in the desert heat. They tend to run a bit small and come in the waist sizes 30 - 42. For me 30's have worked fine even though I am usually smaller than a 30. The cut is great for women. They are not frumpy, and they actually look good on me. It took me a long time to find camo pants that fit me in a flattering way and were still functional, but KUIU's attack pants have been great for me.
My Teton Soft Shell Jacket (http://www.kuiu.com/hunting-jackets-vests/teton-soft-shell-jacket/14001.html?cgid=jackets-and-vests&dwvar_14001_color=ViasCamo#start=11) has been perfect. It does a great job keeping the wind and water off me during winter hunts and can also be worn in warmer temps. From spring turkey hunts to cold November bull elk hunts, it has worked well for me. Although the shoulders tend to be a bit wide because of the cut for men; the jacket fits me nicely. Another favorite of mine is the Ultra Merino 145 Zip- T (http://www.kuiu.com/hunting-shirts/ultra-merino-145-zip-t/20011.html?cgid=shirts&dwvar_20011_color=ViasCamo#start=7). It has provided me with a lot of warmth as a base layer and the fit and functionality of it cannot be beat. With these two layered I have had no problem keeping warm in the cold winters. KUIU has also introduced two amazing jackets for women that I have not had the opportunity to try yet. The Women’s Super Down ULTRA Jacket (http://www.kuiu.com/hunting-jackets-vests/womens-super-down-ultra-jacket/54001.html?dwvar_54001_color=Verde2.0&cgid=#q=womens&start=4) and the Women’s Super Down ULTRA Hooded Jacket (http://www.kuiu.com/hunting-jackets-vests/womens-super-down-ultra-hooded-jacket/54002.html?dwvar_54002_color=ViasCamo&cgid=#q=womens&start=6) are limited edition and are KUIU’s first technical piece for women. I cannot wait to give them a try and would recommend not missing out on ordering these awesome jackets.
I think that their gear works well for women and it is my hope that they will continute to add some more gear with girls in mind. I have hunted in KUIU for years and love to see more women starting to use their gear as well. These are my basic recommendations for ordering KUIU but if you have any other questions feel free to message me on Instagram (@hannah.finley) or email me @hannah.finley09@gmail.com. The company has produced some awesome gear and anything from them is guaranteed to be built well and built with hunters in mind.
